Solutions / Prove sustainability & social claims
Sustainability and social-responsibility claims now carry real exposure — greenwashing challenges, retailer delistings, forced-labor scrutiny at the border. SmarTuna backs every claim with evidence tied to the product itself, so when a retailer, auditor or regulator asks you to prove it, you can — environmental and social alike.
The problem
A certificate tells you a status existed at a point in time. It doesn't prove that this batch, from this vessel, on this trip, is the one it covers. And a supplier's declaration passed down the chain isn't evidence — it's someone else's word, inherited.
Meanwhile the bar has moved. Sustainability claims face greenwashing challenges. Social claims face forced-labor import bans and retailer audits. Both now have to be demonstrated, on demand, in a form someone else can verify — not simply stated.
The approach
SmarTuna treats every claim as a proof point — a defined thing, with defined evidence behind it. Each one has its required documents, a party responsible for providing them, and a link to the specific batch it applies to.
A claim stops being a line on a spec sheet and becomes something you can open, and show.
How it works
The platform knows what each proof point requires and which party in the chain owes it.
Evidence links to the Raw Material ID and the product it covers — not a general folder.
Vessels and establishments are checked against external registries: ISSF PVR, MSC and ASC chain of custody, RFMO records, IUU lists, EU-approved facilities.
Every document is stored against the batch it belongs to and retrieved in minutes, rather than assembled by hand when someone asks.
The same structure carries environmental, legal and social claims — one system, not three.
Social responsibility
Most traceability stops at sustainability. SmarTuna carries the same rigor into social responsibility — the area under the sharpest new scrutiny, and the hardest to prove with paperwork alone.
BSCI/Amfori, SMETA, Fair Trade and the FISH Standard for Crew, tied to the Raw Material ID rather than sitting in a separate system.
Satellite analytics, electronic monitoring and human-observer reporting combined, so worker-welfare claims rest on more than a self-declaration.
Before product enters your chain — giving you the diligence trail to help keep it out, and to show you looked.
Answer a forced-labor question with evidence, not assurances.
Audit-ready, not audit-scramble
When the request comes — from a retailer, an auditor, an NGO or a regulator — the evidence is already there, linked to the product, ready to hand over.
No week of pulling documents together. No chasing suppliers after the fact.
The result
Built for the whole ocean
Pick the claim you're asked about most — MSC chain of custody, FAD-free, fair employment — and we'll walk it back to the vessel, the batch and the documents behind it.
SmarTuna works across all oceans, all seafood species, and every major fishing and farming method. Developed by Pacifical, the team behind the traceability system used by the world's largest MSC-certified purse-seine tuna fishery.
