How it fits together

Every step is recorded as a traceability event — fishing, transshipment, landing, processing, aggregation, shipping, storage — all on GS1-EPCIS, fully GDST-compatible.
Because each event links inputs to outputs, the whole path holds together: forward from a vessel to every product it became, or backward from a product code to the trip that produced it.

Traceability events
A processing event records what went in and what came out — raw skipjack in, finished cases out — with the quantities, the EPCs on both sides, the parent event it came from, and the observations and positions attached to it.
That's what makes the chain hold: each event is joined to the ones before and after it, so nothing is orphaned. Events can be viewed as data, in a timeline, or exported in GDST form.
A container shipment, a longline trip, frozen loins and a raw-material transfer each move differently — so SmarTuna lets you map your own process rather than forcing it into a fixed shape.
Build a chain template once, with the steps named the way your team names them. Each event then knows what it needs, and shows plainly whether it's complete or still waiting on something.
Shipments & containers
Shipments and containers are tracked through to arrival — port of loading and discharge, ETD and ETA against actuals, carrier and vessel, and the logistics events along the way: loaded, departed, afloat, discharged. Each container links back to the shipments, product passports and Raw Material IDs inside it.
So a container isn't just a box in transit. It's a known set of traced products, with a known origin, arriving on a known date.
Evidence & extra fields
Certificates, catch documents and reports are stored against the batch, trip or shipment they relate to, not in a shared drive. They have revisions and typed classification, and are linked to the specific events and proof points they support.
When someone asks for evidence, it’s already attached to the thing they’re asking about.
GDST and EPCIS define a common core. Most operations track more than that — a customer-specific reference, an internal grade, a measurement that matters to one buyer.
Stored alongside the standard fields, so you don’t need a second system and you stay standards-compatible.
