SmarTuna

Industries / Processors & packers

Every kilo accounted for, from discharge to finished case.

You sit at the point where raw material becomes product, and where chain of custody is most easily broken. SmarTuna reconciles what you receive against what was caught, links it through processing to what you ship, and keeps the certification intact across the whole chain.

Where you sit

Your production waits, even when the gap is someone else's.

Buyers want documentation you have to obtain from someone else upstream. Certification schemes want chain of custody proven through every step of your process. Importers want forms that depend on data you may only receive after the container has left.

And all of it has to happen on margins that don’t allow for a bigger compliance team. When a document is missing, it’s your production and your shipment that wait — even when the gap sits with another party.

What SmarTuna does for you

Raw material in, finished product out — one unbroken record

Reconciles incoming raw material against its origin.

Discharge volumes and reports link back to the trip and vessel that produced them — species breakdown, certified versus total weight, size grades, damaged fish — so what arrives is checked against what was caught, rather than accepted on paper.

See traceability & chain of custody

Holds custody through transformation.

Processing events record what went in and what came out, with quantities on both sides, so raw material and finished product stay connected through production rather than becoming two separate records.

See traceability & chain of custody

Keeps certification attached through production.

MSC and ASC chain of custody, facility approvals and product claims carry through as proof points with their evidence and validity dates — so certified raw material stays certified at the finished product.

Shows you what’s coming.

Incoming raw material, supply pipeline and discharge reporting tell you what’s landed, what’s still at sea and what’s heading your way, by partner, species and site.

Protecting the premium

Don't lose the certification you already paid for

Certified raw material is often worth more than uncertified raw material — but only if the certification survives the journey to the finished product.

Chain of custody breaks in the places where records don’t join up: a discharge that isn’t linked to its trip, a batch where inputs can’t be evidenced, a transformation event that leaves no trail from input to output. When that happens, product that was genuinely certified at the source can’t be sold as certified at the end of the chain.

Keeping that link intact is one of the most direct returns on traceability there is. It isn’t a compliance cost — it’s protecting the premium you’re already paying for.

Chase documents once, not every time

Most of the delay in your compliance work isn’t the paperwork itself. It’s finding out what’s missing, working out who has it, and asking repeatedly.

SmarTuna makes both of those transparent. Each shipment has a defined set of document requirements, each requirement has a responsible party, and outstanding items can be requested from that party through the platform, with access limited to the part they’re contributing.

Your team works from a known list instead of an unknown one, and stops being the collection agency for everyone else’s paperwork.

Ship into any market from one record

EU CATCH, US SIMP, FSMA, GDST, plus whatever your customers ask for on top — each wants its own evidence in its own way.

Because the underlying data is captured once and linked to the batch, filings and buyer requests draw from the same record rather than being assembled separately for each destination. And a consignment can be checked for completeness before it ships, while a missing item can still be obtained.
