Products / API & Integrations
Traceability data is only useful if it can travel along with the final product. SmarTuna records everything on GS1-EPCIS and gives you a documented API to retrieve it, so the chain you build here can feed your own systems, your partners and your customers — in a form they can actually read.
Data in
Satellite VMS and AIS feed vessel positions and tracks continuously. Catch and fisheries information messages arrive as they're generated. Out-turn reports, certificates and supporting documents are added against the trip or shipment they belong to, and reference data — vessels, ports, products — stays synchronized with the registries behind it.
The point is that the record builds from primary sources as the product moves, rather than depending on someone re-entering it later.
Data out
A documented interface for retrieving what the platform holds. Feed an ERP, populate internal reporting, drive a customer-facing portal, or hand a partner exactly the data they need — without exporting spreadsheets by hand.
On the standard
Events are recorded on GS1-EPCIS in the first place, and the platform is fully GDST-compatible — the standard the seafood industry is converging on.
The distinction matters. A system that stores data its own way and converts on export depends on a conversion that may lose information.
When the standard is the native format, what you retrieve is what was recorded.
Bringing partners in
Not every partner is ready to consume structured data, and waiting for them isn’t an option.
Alongside raw data, the platform produces spreadsheet and document outputs for the parties who still work that way — so a partner’s maturity determines the format, not whether the exchange happens at all.
Suppliers and partners can contribute what they owe — documents, records, confirmations — through a collaboration mode that gives them access to their part of the work, and nothing beyond it.
They don’t need a full platform license, and you don’t need to open up your wider operation to bring them in.
Portability
Because the data is recorded on an open standard, and retrievable in it, the chain of custody you build isn't locked to this platform. That's deliberate.
A platform that only works as a walled garden asks you to trade one dependency for another — and a chain of custody you can't take with you isn't much of an asset. See data exchange.
